There's specific training you can do with the dog to make him adverse to messing with ducks. You need to be trained along with the dog so you're both on the same page, so to speak.

Hmm in that cause I would probably keep him on a leash around the duck and essentially start over like he was a puppy. You could also try giving both of them treats so he sees you can both get attention or whatever.The dog is a 7 year old dachshund he is very obedient and knows a lot of basic and more advanced commands but whenever the duck is around it's like he forgets everything
Hmm that’s true too! Especially being 7. It might have been possible if he was puppy and learned from the beginning but at this age maybe not.Given the prey drive that is hardwired into his DNA, I doubt that any obedience training will work. It's just 'the nature of the beast'. I would never trust him around the duck. You will have to make adjustments in her feeding regimen to make sure she gets enough to eat.
