You are so right, it is inevitable what other will conclude too, but as the saying goes, "Your dogs are only as good and/or as bad as the owner makes them out to be". This incident, in no way changes my outlook on the breed, but one definitely needs to be aware of the breed and what gets them ticking. I admit, after 5 yrs and lots of reading and learning of the breed, I still dont know everything, but I have given them the best that I have with all that I know. As I was informed by my MIL who witnessed the whole event, the pitbull who has always tolerated the JRT, did not aggressively go up to the JRT and was eating out of the JRT bowl rather peacefully, but what did set the pit bull in motion is when the JRT did one of her little dashing snips at the pitbull, she "reacted". Thank you for your condolences, all these hugs and support is really given me comfort in this situation.
