Check out electric poultry fencing. Look on the internet. I know Premier carries it. I don't know how practical it would be for large tracts of land but for small areas like around the barn and where your chickens are it should be suitable. As for a lawsuit because you shot the dog, the neighbor does not have a case. Killing a dog that is molesting your livestock is legal in just about any state.

Here is update with messages sent to dog owner and sheriff deputy. I could hear neighbor calling for his dogs at just before 2227.

Second message to $%^&@CallawayS:hmmrg

More evidence. I would now like to press charges. Animals put under duress by actions of those dogs are worth a lot more than fines that may have been levied for trespassing. My does are getting close to birthing young making them exceptionally vulnerable to stress. I sent at 2230 via facebook the second in message above to #### @@@@@@. Facebook readout indicates he viewed the image at 2230, almost immediately. I could here him call for dogs prior to 2230. He would not police up his dogs until I yelled repeatedly at him to do so. Dogs were barking at me and my dogs across the fence. I am not certain he could see me.

Me, Honey and Pup Pup coming back from property boundary. My underwear are actually black. At least I have shoes and a coat on. I left rifle at door when going out. I could have shot both dogs so easily.

I already use electrified fencing but now acreage and management system involved with making protection of livestock a lot more expensive than basic fencing needed to confine animals. Area with fencing shown is only about 0.5 acres. Another 12 acres will be used and that will represent multiple pastures.

Your dogs had never gone there before?

I wonder if they lured your dogs with food?

It sure does.
My dogs have driven theirs back across line and sometimes crossed fence while doing it. Based on law as I'm really coming to know it, my position is not weakened by my dogs going over property line so long as they do no damage which is same situation my neighbor has with dogs simply coming over. I am still learning. next effort will likely be to approach county commission to appeal for a county rule change. Where I'm weakened is my ability to protect my dogs from having revenge taken out on them by neighbors.

My inability to get law enforcement to deal with dogs chasing my stock while on my property is particularly aggravating. We must all remember my area is under state of Missouri and Callaway County rules, not those of somewhere else.
