hi, is it safe to feed them dog kibble in an emergency? payday is wednesday and we are almost out completely, wondered what options i might have...

Mix it up. Some kibble is ok. Old vegies, steamed rice, various cereals work good.

Dog kibble has a meat base where most chicken feeds do not. I wouldn't overload them with it but some is fine.

Same with us: out of feed today, couldn't get to the feed store.

My birds feasted on: Whole grain multigrain organic bread (stale, cut into little squares) which was soaked in water with a scoop of yogurt for breakfast; For dinner they had cooked wholegrain brown rice with torn-up stale tortillas (also all organic) and purple cabbage leaves, and some applesauce. Plus, they free-ranged all day.

All of these things are good natural foods for them: seeds, grains, veggies, ...well, maybe not yogurt, but they like it alot.

Good luck - for healthy but peculiar foods, just pretend it's a holiday party!!
