Luckily, that's not, nor likely ever will be, an issue for me. My dogs (and cats, for that matter) are always pets, never for breeding. They're always neutered or spayed and they MUST get along. Before a new family member comes home, we take our current dog along for a meet-and-greet, first. The shelter staff has always done an amazing job of pre-screening, so we've never been disappointed. Everyone we've "visited" has come home and stayed!

That's amazing! The rescue we got our pit mix from told us she was good with other dogs. We found out months later that this was not the case and she is fear-reactive and dog-dominant. We also found out that she was kept separated from other dogs at a previous foster home.

My current heart-dog was an owner-surrender due to "male dog aggression." The shelter people figured he was the victim, not the aggressor and I'd have to agree. Echo hasn't got an aggressive bone in his body ... all 100 pounds of it!
