Sammy runs like greased lightning when he gets the zoomies. When we first got him I would take him out on a 15-foot long line and I would just stand in one spot and he would zoom around me while I held onto the line and let him run circles around me! Sometimes I thought he would just take off and get airborne...

Denver use to do that as a puppy and Tucker still can dog that. They litterally zoom around you until they are tired its funny! But mine are definitely not as fast as a sheltie! I wonder if he ran fast enough and jumped high enough if he could fly for a few seconds?

My dad’s friend has always had them and they really don’t exercise theirs a ton and they’re still happy. They just walk him I think and sometimes the beach or boat.

thats good to know, I was getting a bit worried about how much destructive behaviour was mentioned everywhere

I also don’t think their trainer works with actual working dogs, why wait until the dog is 2 before scent training it!?

I think Pikelets going to wash out of assistance dog training we went out yesterday to a garden centre thats near by. It has 3 different rooms first room is large, Pikelet was fine she was really confident which is a huge improvement from when we first took her there!

Then next room is a very small darkish room with the dog stuff in it. It leads to the next room thats as big as the first one. They had stands with advertisement screen thing’s playing right by the door way to the next room. Pikelet got scared of something and kept running away from the entrance we tried to get her through a few times and she kept running back to hide in the dog area, so I tried going back in the first room, she was better but still nervous!

we went back final got her past the screens that was what we thought the issue was! And she was still nervous tried walking around a bit with lots of treats (she was getting a lot of them the entire time) she got a bit better but still nervous! We went outside she was very nervous when we went out but she did get better again but still not confident puppy .

We drove a bit to a area outside that she had been to before, she was scared of the duck, the road and someone on a bench! We ended up leaving again, we took her to a small park she was still a bit nervous in the park but she did eventually calm down there

we are going to try a few things and see how she does but I think she has all ready washed out . My mother does not want to rehome her at all, I don’t really either but I do need a spare AD

Maybe trh socializing her with one scary thing at a time. This is what im doing with Denver. She use to be scared of everything but people, birds and squirrels. Now she will play with other dogs. Many surfaces dont bother her. The agility course rhat was at the campground she was nervous around but after a bit she settled in and was doing everything she could. Im still working with her but noise is her issue. It kinda sounds like Pikelet just needs some extra socializing in those areas.
I know that there is many videos on socializing.
I hope everything does work out.

I think that’s more if they do like absolutely nothing. Walks and playing with your other dogs and the other stuff you do should be fine.

I definitely can work through it with her but that doesn’t mean her temperament is right for assistance dog work. It seemed to be that entire room was scary I think the noises is what caused it. Once she was scared she was nervous about things she was fine with before. it must have been 20 minutes at least before she was confident again. We drove to 2 different places! she really likes the car so she wasn’t nervous in the car once we got out she was back to being nervous

good point plus it could also just be a fear period and she might get over it. Brew used to be terrified of certain people and also plastic bags but now he’s totally fine and loves people again. I say again because he was fine as a puppy but went through a fear period.

Fanta also went through fear periods but she was much faster to calm down and actually look what scared her, she would quite quickly start creeping carefully towards it. Which is a much needed reaction! some things that have happened to Fanta, she has been yelled at by a stranger in a shop, had someone poke her near the base of her tail while she wasn’t looking at them and had a car do a extremely loud screeching noise while turning nearby

this is not including all the other noise and things she has needed to work near

when things happen is when I need my dog to work, I don’t except no reaction but I can’t have her scared for the next 10minutes

Denver went through 4 fear stages. And they were hard.
Tucker hasnt went through any yet.

I do hope you can work it out. And if you can't maybe another giant schnauzer would be a good choice.
