Yup, but the Danes of that time. Not the Danes of now. I've personally never met a Dane fit for hog hunting

As with alot of other dog breeds you will find that some people have breed Danes to be pets and other lines have been breed to maintain their instincts out of tradition. I imagine pet lines are more prevalent. Youtube it and you will see it's not uncommon

Do any of the breeders around you have website, etc? I would be interested in seeing how different show ones are to working ones

I agree, but I would think that one serious in hunting, would get the best dog for the job, which is by far the Dogo Argentino

I’ve never once seen a Great Dane used for hog hunting. I HAVE seen APBT, Catahoula, and bull herders (Bull Terrier x Malinois and/or Dutchie and/or GSD or APBT/Malinois, Border Collie x Bull Terrier, etc.)
