Soo Russian toys. They seem like a good fit. Don't know where I'd find one, but

What qualities make them a good fit for you? Have you considered something like the Chinese crested?

Small, not much grooming, very healthy, a companion breed, yet not super dependent on the owner, and they have about the same energy requirements as a Cavalier. I have considered Chinese Cresteds. I think I've even mentioned them here. One thing that I do not love about them is the extra care their skin needs. Getting a powder puff would defeat the purpose of getting a Chinese crested

What about a chihuahua? Well bred ones can be amazing.

Oh I know, I absolutely love them! I've heard however that all of them are very, very owner dependent, and cannot go alone for long

Oh makes sense. But I think they could be trained.

Probably? I have no clue. I'm waiting on a really good interview with a Greek chihuahua breeder to drop. I haven't written off chihuahua just yet, same with cresteds
