We have both here. For me I think rats, chipmunks, squirrels, etc. are more common

So does that not make any dog that have access to like rats at risk of lepto?
Like I'm trying to understand why if you have Opossums your dog is at risk but there's not been a mention of rats?
Just trying to understand the differences... leptos not a very common disease here.

I’m not sure. I’m pretty sure rats and other rodents carry it too. Probably more so than opossums.

They do carry it. I find the fact opossums do too interesting.

There are rats to. Around me less likely but there is tons of other wildlife deer, skunks, racoons, squirrels.

I guess i find it weird that your vet doesnt reccomend it because Florida is a hot, wet and humid climate. making it easier for lepto to spread.

Also since lepto is a bacterial vaccine it's riskier, same with Lyme
