I've had and lost a lot of dogs. I'm always looking for that magic combo that keeps my dogs here longer. In the end it's always better to pick what you love and hope for the best. Dogs lives are so very short, but they bring so much joy and happiness. I cannot image life without them.I know they do, it's sad but I enjoy the time I have with large dogs more. I've had small, medium, and large dogs and the large ones have made me sure that I'll always have a big dog by my side. I know it's rare but a friend of mine knows someone with a 16 year old pyr, obviously that's not a normal thing though
That must have been a short time.Though sometimes I miss when I could pick willow up![]()
So true.I've had and lost a lot of dogs. I'm always looking for that magic combo that keeps my dogs here longer. In the end it's always better to pick what you love and hope for the best. Dogs lives are so very short, but they bring so much joy and happiness. I cannot image life without them.

Yeah it’s sad, any large breed with life span under 10 years I won’t even consider. Really narrows the options down. That’s one of the reasons I used to really want a kangal (or Anatolian shepherd) for their size their lifespan is amazing!Bigger dogs have shorter lives on average. It's one reason I never got that Irish wolfhound or St. Bernard. I could never get past that information. Aussies tend to be healthy dogs and often live 12-15 years.
That makes perfect sense! I have actually come to kind of like the idea of a little smaller. A 90 pound dog would be way easier to travel with and accommodate for than a 125 pound dog (and the food bill). And I want to compete in sports so the lighter frame of the Doberman is much better for that.I prefer Tuckers size. Especially when traveling. I can pick him up and he allows it. Plus he has the athletic body to do any sport. But he is a few lbs under weight. Im working on it. But it seems he always looses weight once he gains it.
I do love large dogs to but i cant do everything i want with a 80+ lb dog. Vs a 60 lb dog i can.
True. Brew is like 75 although he might have lost a bit and be closer to 70 now but I think he gained it back.I prefer Tuckers size. Especially when traveling. I can pick him up and he allows it.
