At least our land sharks can defend us, what’s a little dog gonna do? Bite someone’s pinky, their big toe? Drive off an invader? Nope, I’ll take my big dogs any day. I have two pitbulls who are smart enough to know when and who to be aggressive to.

Training won’t make a dog protective, for the large majority of owners protective dogs are not a good fit

I don't keep dogs as a defence measure. In addition, that is a very broad statement. I'd like to see a borzoi as a guard dog. Not only isn't almost impossible, it's not a good idea. Training won't make up for something that isn't already there. Every time a dog confronts an intruder the dog is at risk of getting harmed. If you want to take that risk, fine. I won't. Do you have pitbulls, or do you have pibbles?

Actually training can go a long way to shape a dogs perspective. And I’m only saying training for ppl who want such dogs.

Not to mention, most “protective” dogs are really just fearful and hoping the scary bad guy goes away. Not very many are actually protective.
