I don't keep dogs as a defence measure. In addition, that is a very broad statement. I'd like to see a borzoi as a guard dog. Not only isn't almost impossible, it's not a good idea. Training won't make up for something that isn't already there. Every time a dog confronts an intruder the dog is at risk of getting harmed. If you want to take that risk, fine. I won't. Do you have pitbulls, or do you have pibbles?

Actually training can go a long way to shape a dogs perspective. And I’m only saying training for ppl who want such dogs.

Nope! you can make a dog grab a sleeve like a toy but not to be actually protective

Not to mention, most “protective” dogs are really just fearful and hoping the scary bad guy goes away. Not very many are actually protective.

I will admit, one of my girls is a fearful protective, the other is smart and protective protective. Neither have ever attacked anyone but I have no doubt they know good guy from bad

Fearful isn’t a good thing.. they could attack an innocent person

I would call Fanta protective, she loves people and has never shown a sign of aggression. I think she is protective from watching her body language when she does see something she is unsure of. No sign of fear but definitely watching the thing making sure its okay and putting herself in front of me

she rarely is scared of anything, it was mostly when she was younger

No, trust me she’s spent 7 years in this house with a broad variety of people coming to visit, both sketchy ppl and nice ppl, the most she’s done is growl at the obviously sketchy ppl (that’s when we knew they shouldn’t be in our house)

All so the fact that her father comes from a very long line of protection dogs also helps
