The kennel club (KC) is confusingly the UKs version of the American kennel club

The kc has a breed watch category thing, they explain it better then I can on their website

like I said before it’s easy to find a lot if information on the dogs (you can’t see who owns the dog)

in their big shows they set up free vet checks for things like eyes, heart, etc (I don’t know if the AKC does this)

pugs most be checked by a vet for breathing issues before they can get a championship (also don’t know if the akc does this)

The KC has a assured breeder scheme, I not sure how good it actually is but they are trying to make it easier for people to find ethical breeders

in the akc to show some dogs they have to be cropped and docked

I have not seen the AKC working towards dog welfare and health anywhere near as much as the KC

Oh, you're so right, they do not do enough work with health screenings and getting info out there to the general public

Thats a good range! Springers breed average and Pikelet‘s is 11%.

0% isn’t necessarily good

Especially for Golden Retrievers its good! I was suprised to see his so low to be honest. 0% is actually not good is what i heard.

I believe embark tests for it? I could be totally wrong. I know of people who have found the COI of their mixes. Not a topic I know a lot about, but a topic I love hearing about

Kinda random but I’m now considering a spaniel for my next dog (though that will be a long way away). It’s between that and a retriever (Lab or Golden) or a bully breed like Staffy or BBM. I also love Brittanys and GSP but idk if I want one next. Same for Border Collies and Aussies lol I’ve tried to narrow it down hahah ANYWAY! I love spaniels and I’m considering a Springer. Or maybe Cocker but I’m nervous about the rage thing.

My aunt had a Cocker spaniel he was like 35lbs and was a great dog till he went blind and started nipping at people.
And i know someone who has a German Longhaired Pointer and boy does he have crazy energy!

That’s a good point, thanks! And I loveeeeeee Cavs but I worry about their health issues also their size. Wouldn’t want Brew hurting one lol

Aww that’s sad he went blind and the nipping. And yeah German pointers have soooo much energy. That’s part of why I’m hesitant lol
