Dog thread!🐾

Call it what you will and you don’t have to agree but my dogs DO NOT shut down during training but they engage more often, pay closer attention. So what if it’s outdated? It works
Your dogs have too engage other wise they are punished

it working really depends what you want, if your only goal is a dog that listens to you no matter what ignoring their health then yes it works

Look, that’s not what’s happening, almost all my dogs were corrected ONE TIME and since then they heel nicely. It’s not a constant fear the dogs are in, it’s respect, humans and dogs are not equal, one needs to be above the other and personally, I’m not ok with my dog walking me…I’ve seen cases with people getting REALLY hurt by their dogs pulling uncontrollably (dogs that give no mind to treats) and one or two of this type of correction had them paying closer attention. I’ve said my part but treats don’t always work.

Why does that correction work? If you don’t use a reward why is your dog heeling?

I don’t mind people who use aversive in their training, I do mind harmful information claiming you method works with all dogs and trying to teach people how to use aversive methods over the internet like this, is harmful

not to mention I am pretty sure that is a terrible method that any good dog trainer would never recommend

Look I’ve already said my price and don’t intend to engage further and get BANNED again for stupid stuff I was blamed for and never did. I’ll try to get you a video if I can but no guarantees because, after all, you are just another user in another part of the world and I don’t owe you anything

And please bear in mind I say NONE of this spitefully or with an attitude. Im GLAD we share our different opinions and hope we continue to!😊
Some things aren’t just a different opinion, sometimes you need to do more research to see if you are in fact wrong or not

I generally do want an answer to why you think the dog is behaving with out a reward but if you don’t want to answer that its fine :idunno

you don’t owe me the video but with out it I unfortunately just have to guess how the dog is behaving

Some dogs just like to work and don’t need cookies for everything. Others maybe do.

I don’t think any dog has 0 food drive but by rewards I mean toys, praise, treats etc (I find praise isn’t enough to actually teach a new behaviour (unless the behaviour is rewarding) but thats just my experience)

If you don’t spend any time teaching the dog what to do and just punish them when they don’t behave how you want them to then I have a issues

leash walking/ heel is very difficult for dogs because their natural walking speed is faster then the average person and the environment is very rewarding specially for dogs with low food drive and low handler focus. I don’t think pulling can be fixed nicely by purely punishment there must be some reward for not pulled
