Both 🤣 I meant corrections

corrections used wrong is far worse the +R training used wrong

You can do reward based training without treats šŸ™„
I guess but there’s nothing wrong with using corrections in training either and if done correctly, it does NOT scar dogs for life or anything like that. Mother dogs correct their puppies too. It’s natural to have consequences for their actions.

You missed the point of what I am saying :th

I don't think Spot has said Reward based training it the only way to do it, or that you should be giving out treats constantly. I don't always use treats because I don't carry them around on me.
All my dogs thrive off my attention, verbal praise is a lot to them.
I don't think there's a single training method that anyone can say will work for every dog. I could never use most aversive training on some of mine because they are very sensitive and as Spot said would shut down. Then I'd have to spend the next few days gaining that trust back.
Training is complicated and should be tailored to your specific dogs. Methods change or are replaced and thorough research should be done.

aversion in training does not automatically = shutdown dog but it is very easy to do wrong, you should only learn about how to use aversion from a good certified trainer

I will say you don’t have too use aversion if you don’t want to, it is 100% possible to train without it. I personally don’t like using aversive training methods, I don’t think that it does any good but that isn’t the point I was trying to make

there is a lot of good information that is more common in the +R training community then in the balance one that I think is good for everyone to use. There is also a lot of bad information that is mostly in the balance training community unfortunately

See, I think this is where we disagree because I don’t think it’s possible to train every dog with solely positive. I still believe some dogs need corrections. Just like some dogs would melt with a correction. Every dog is different. I guess that’s my main point.

But like, recall for example. I don’t think it’s possible with only cookies (or toys or praise) because eventually they WILL find something more interesting than you. Like a deer or squirrel, dog, car, something. And they will need consequences for their actions. Yes, they could theoretically blow through and e collar too but it’s less likely. Brew did it like once as an adolescent and not since. He knows now. But he’s not afraid at all. I only ever use vibrate now. He listens.

Denver is always wanting to sniff and see the chicks whenever we have them, this little one quickly jumped off my hand and went on her paw! The look on her face🤣
