He'll get there eventually! Some dogs just have a harder time losing weight. He really is!! Heās actually quite fat right now and needs to lose a lot of weight![]()
Itās my fault cause I was way over feeding him for a while plus not walking him but now weāve been walking again plus I cut back his food and treats. So weāll get there. He also used to run around constantly with his friends which helped keep him in shape but theyāre not really around anymore. He'll get there eventually! Cut back the food about 1/2 cup but add in green beans, broccoli, carrots. How do you get them to lose weight!?
You're doing it right - cut back on food and increase exercise. Make sure you measure out the food and feed less at meals if you gave treats (it makes it easier to know how much to feed if you use his kibble as treats). Adding veggies like @Ilovemychicks08 mentioned can help him feel less hungry. It can take months! If that doesn't work there are weight management dog foods you could try too.How do you get them to lose weight!?
I found adding veggies helped so much, our vet told us to do the green beans and broccoli. You're doing it right - cut back on food and increase exercise. Thanks!! I tried to cut him back to 2 cups but realistically it was still 3-4 cups because he would eat it all and then I would add 2 more cups and then he would eat some more.Cut back the food about 1/2 cup but add in green beans, broccoli, carrots.
Try walking atleast 1 mile a day(start with half a mile if you haven't walked a lot). Super low calorie treats. I have treats that are less than 2 cal a treat.
Ive heard swimming helps(but i dont have a place for them to swim).
Currently doing all this with Denver and she went from 85lbs to 80 and im still working her down some.
I do actually already have a bag because he was on one previously but I was gonna donate it because we canāt go through it in the recommended time frame and I have a smaller bag of another kind of food I switched too instead. Itās higher calorie though so he gained when we switchedI found adding veggies helped so much, our vet told us to do the green beans and broccoli.
