Saw a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog at the vet the other day!
The third I've ever seen. He was a puppy.

Ohh...not weird at all for a Boston. They absolutely love the taste of smelly feet...Nope, just sniffs and licks them.
They should list these weird things in the breed descriptions and what to expect!Ohh...not weird at all for a Boston. They absolutely love the taste of smelly feet...![]()
English pointers are easy. All they do is sleep and compulsively lick fabric. They should list these weird things in the breed descriptions and what to expect!![]()
Get from a breeder that doesn early neurological stimulation and the puppies come from hunting lines.I might be getting a NSDT puppy sometime this summer for a hunting dog and I was wondering if anyone had any advice? (its my 4th dog, 1st hunting dog)
Oh, that's awful. I'm sorry you had to see that.so we were on our way home from getting chicken feed and we saw something on the side of the road. Turned around and it was a bernese mountain dog poodle puppy from the amish.
Her hip was broken and she had been abused before being hit by a car. She had to have laying in the ditch for hours
She was dead.
My heart just sank knowing she was only maybe 14 weeks old.
I would wait until a year and a half before doing heavier pulling. But light pulling/getting them use to it could be done sooner. So I have been doing research into dog harness and pulling, everything single one I have found has said Y-fronts are actually more restrictive then straight fronts, all of them... unfortunately they all do have their issues with how the study was done but I think they take home of it is that you should find what fits your dogs best whether its straight front or Y-front ( 2 dogs here can only comfortably fit in straight front, 1 can wear either and 1 fits nicely into Y front I haven't tried straight on her yet)
The other thing is that I can't find anything supporting wait till 2y for your dog to do pulling sports or similar things. If your dog is a crossbreed, you don't know their pedigree or their is little to no information on their joints you should probably wait until 2 (depending on breed some younger some older). If you do know your dogs pedigree, they are purebred and have a pedigree full of healthy joints (look at siblings and off spring of parents and grandparents) then its actually very difficult to damage their joints. Just don't do a ridiculous amount of exercises, make them jump and be careful with stairs
Also adolescent dogs should sleep 18-20 hours a day, so that doesn't give you time to do much anyway!
Still busy researching the pulling stuff but it seems like there is no issue slowly starting Peps on pulling now and no reason to wait until she is 2y oldthe AD/SD community will hate me
