Dog thread!🐾

4 AM - Dorie hears a rat in my bedroom and keeps trying to catch it. She wouldn't go back to sleep so I decided to see if I could catch it. I prod it out from under the furniture with a butterfly net and trap it underneath. Turns out to be a HUGE rat! Dorie bites the rat right through the net then proceeds to shake it and bite it violently. Blood is flying everywhere. By the time she killed it Dorie was red with its blood and the office looked like a crime scene. I had to clean her and the floor and furniture before going back to bed...The end. 😬
She sounds like a good ratter. Bet she had fun.

I actually really do need a terrier.

The rodent problem has been going on for years. Cats don't work, because the dogs chase them. Back in the day:old the mice would come out during the day and the chickens would take care of the problem...to a degree. These new
Sounds like you need a terrier! But I can't recommend a Boston for pest control... 😆

generations of mice have figured out that only coming out at night means they're totally safe to roam. Yuck

Any particular reason? Are The terriers themselves not very keen on the hunting, or are the mice just too clever?
It would be a combination of things. They do all have varying levels of interests in hunting (Misty got bit by a rat once and decided I had to save her after that ), the rats are only really active at night, all the dogs are locked up at night. And the rats favourite spot right now is the shed which the dogs aren't technically allowed in...
I've been considering locking a few of them in the shed over night though and seeing what happens.

I had the pleasure of watching my first rat terrier catch and kill a rat. It was so quick and efficient. I don't even think the rat knew what hit it.

This time of year we have to keep traps set in our basement as the mice are looking for a warm place to spend their winter.

We are fostering this little guy till Friday
