Aw I’m sorry! That always hurtsHe accidentally gave me rope burn yesterday, being way too excited.View attachment 4202453
That’s normal for a puppy of both those breeds. They are energetic working breeds. Also I would wait until he’s at least a year old, preferably two years, if you can for neutering a large breed dog. I understand if you can’t wait two years but I’d at least wait a few more months until December ish (1 year). For his joint health.Lol, yeah it's kind of insane. When I sit upright on the ground and he sits next to me, he's a couple of inches taller, too. He's so far outside the growth charts of both breeds.
He's getting in neutered September or October. I'm really hoping it calms him down even just a little tiny bit. He still can't be loose inside because he is so energetic and huge. HOPEfully, after the neutering he can get acclimated to being inside (especially as Winter rolls in in November) and be a bit more adjusted by the time we have the baby at the end of January. I'm not too concerned because he's really amazing about his crate, going in when asked, and being in there a long time if he absolutely has to. More enrichment activities if he does have to be stuck in there though, of course.
If he gets to the point where he can start being loose inside with a bit of sanity, I expect we'll just stick a baby gate across the hall entrance.
It's just energy energy energy all the time, and he wants to run run run, then flop down, then run and flop and run and flop. He's too big to do that in here, for sure!

So badly lolAw I’m sorry! That always hurts
Vet recommended nine months for his breed(s) for the joints, but I'm not anxious to get it done. I know it's generally a bit better to wait longer, so that's why I'm fine with it happening in October when he is closer to 10-11 months. We can't push it back too far though, because of the baby coming. I could possibly have baby in December, and that would be a lot at once. Waiting just not the best option, but if it were a different situation I'd probably wait until December/January at *least*.That’s normal for a puppy of both those breeds. Emails tend to be a lower priority.Still nothing, and they've been open for two and a half hours! Oh well, maybe they're really busy. I guess I'll give them a call Monday or Tuesday if they don't respond at all today.
I got him some natural fly spray, so I suppose I will keep washing every couple of days and just get the spray on him. Fortunately, it's not a hot, buzzy day.
I bet they are!Emails tend to be a lower priority.
The one time I used email communication with a vet is was really good, but it's going to vary with every clinic and their workload. They possibly come in every morning and are bombarded with phones calls from people waiting till their open, or there's phone messages they have to sort and get back to.
And that's on TOP of them getting the day going with everything else! If it's important and you need to know urgently, always ring, otherwise I really reccomend letting the staff move at the pace they need to. It's a high stress, high workload industry, they REALLY appreciate the polite, kind, patient clients![]()
Ahhhh okay that makes sense then. My vet recommended 6 months for Brew cause of his breed but I chose to wait. I understand not being able too though. Our last dog we neutered WAY too early and I forever regret that LOL so with Brew I wanted to wait as long as possible.Vet recommended nine months for his breed(s) for the joints, but I'm not anxious to get it done. All that in mind, once he hits a year I'm going to start him on probiotics and joint supplements for his long term health, because he's a big boy and especially since we can't postpone neutering as long as is most optimal.
