Ahhhh okay that makes sense then. My vet recommended 6 months for Brew cause of his breed but I chose to wait. I understand not being able too though. Our last dog we neutered WAY too early and I forever regret that LOL so with Brew I wanted to wait as long as possible.

Yeah, 9 months is definitely my minimum!
My sister didn't want to spay my family's pit/beagle/lab until 1.5yrs, but ended up spaying her after her second heat, lol. Sister just wouldn't take well enough care of it. Dog didn't mind the diapers though.
Speaking of, I have no idea how neuter surgery recovery goes?

Oh, goody. He can settle in the crate and if he is alone on the line outside, though I expect he shouldn't be outside to hang for a while after that, eh?

Yeah Brew is also pit/beagle/lab with some other breeds in there LOL he had turned 2 in January and I got him neutered in March so he was 26 months old. Just over 2 years. Now he’s 4 1/2. he did well with the recovery. I don’t think I even crated him very much but maybe, don’t really remember. Do remember the cone of shame though LOL he was back to normal fairly quickly.

First day or two, he definitely shouldn't. The issues lie more with the fact running, jumping, swimming, etc. are all off limits for up to two weeks...

(All of this may vary depending on your vet, I'm just saying everything that's been drilled into my head and I have to tell people regularly )

Vet recommended nine months for his breed(s) for the joints, but I'm not anxious to get it done. I know it's generally a bit better to wait longer, so that's why I'm fine with it happening in October when he is closer to 10-11 months. We can't push it back too far though, because of the baby coming. I could possibly have baby in December, and that would be a lot at once. Waiting just not the best option, but if it were a different situation I'd probably wait until December/January at *least*.
All that in mind, once he hits a year I'm going to start him on probiotics and joint supplements for his long term health, because he's a big boy and especially since we can't postpone neutering as long as is most optimal.

Agreed. And I don’t feel weird honestly because some vets just aren’t up to date on the latest information and new studies, etc. They maybe went to school a long time ago and don’t continue their education.

And that’s not knocking vets btw. I love vets and the work they do. Mine is FANTASTIC. But some are just more… old school? I guess. Which isn’t necessarily bad for certain things but can be for others lol
