Dog thread!🐾

I’m sorry! Weight issues are so frustrating
Honestly it's more so embarrassing. I wouldn't feel comfortable with taking him anywhere without fear of being severely judged.
Yes, I feed my dog. every. single. day. Puppy formula too. He's just skinny 😭 You should see my other dog, she's fat 😆

That’s funny🤣 yeah I totally get that. Especially with how wild he is. Sometimes wild dogs are a nightmare to work with because they simply have no idea how much damage then can do just by being happy😭
YES, that's exactly the problem! At least he doesn't damage himself I guess. 😂
This is from the last time I had to take him out. He wasn't even misbehaving too much (for him), he just jumped a couple of times and struggled to collect himself once we got out on the back porch. I didn't have anything to redirect him with, so it was just corrections.

Funny! Many try to use his prey drive then. I’d hold him back and wave food in front of him then throw it. Then wait a second or two for your release command. This should make him want to chase it. Then you can build to throwing where he can’t see it
I might try it. I'll have to start small though, because his attention span for chasing things is tiny, haha. He is great at voluntary fetch, but the smaller the item and the longer he has to wait, the less interesting. I'll have to throw something really delicious I guess.

That would make me so mad. Surely people won’t do that though? But I do remember at the vet once that was basically a skeleton. It was horrible. I did get some funny looks. Which I always thought was ridiculous because I was AT a vet. Surely they knew we had sick dogs there.

Oh my I’m so sorry😭 have you tried a prong? But know prongs are not designed hold the dog back necessarily, more reinforce pre known behaviors. Prongs can be lifesavers, if used properly.

Sounds like a puppy😭 if he has high drive to fetch balls I would be surprised if it didn’t work. Chase doesn’t like working for his kibble but as soon as I throw it he’s after it like he’s actually been wanting it the whole time🙄

meant to add this😅

Some people don't need a reason unfortunately...
The vet is the only place I would take him, the staff actually always mistake all my other dogs for him for some reason 😭 None of them look the same but it's always "is this Wizard?" Uh, no 🤣
And honestly when you have perspective, he's in good shape rn. I take some comfort in the fact he's absolutely has more muscle mass compared to when I got him. His coat has unfortunately gone backwards again, but not as bad as it was to start with. I do need more of his Omega oils supplement though.

Yeah some are so judgmental. I wouldn’t let it bother you if you can😊 How old is he?

Haven't tried a prong yet, but he does have a martingale that helps a bit as opposed to a flat collar. I think I'll reserve the prong for adulthood, if it's really needed.

I've not done kibble work for him recently because... Long story... In the first trimester, the last food I had before my morning sickness kicked in was potato olays (GAG) from Taco John's, but the dog's food smelled like Olay seasoning to my pregnancy nose, so now even though my sense of smell is back to normal and I'm not nauseous, I can't stand his kibble, not even touching it. 😭🤣🤣
