Wow thatās ridiculous. Honestly I think willow might benefit the best from just not allowing people to pet her at all. If you go a good year of her never being touched by anyone outside the family Iām sure she will stop caring about strangers completely. She will realize they give her nothing. After that you could introduce it slowly again, but honestly I wouldnāt. Thatās what Iāve done with Chase. I donāt let anyone pet him, for those reasons and because he is a bite risk. Itās hard for me because the people that have known him since he was a puppy just pet him without asking, and that doesnāt bother me honestly. I have given them permission in the past. But now I donāt really like it but I just kind of make it clear I donāt want them to pet him by my body language or I just tell themAt the pet store the other week, she started to jump and I corrected her and the lady was like "oh no let her she's giving me a hug!" I told her no obviously that willow is in training and then she acted like I was some evil strict mother![]()
Awww thatās great!! So sweet how much she has settled in now compared to the pastI gotta brag a bit too, today! My Jenny (avatar) SAT today! You gotta understand she's a rescue. We got her from a breeder at nearly 3 yo and she was not socialized AT ALL. She did not come or even know her name. She was scared of people but she did bond to me fairly quickly. The first time I tried to teach her to sit, she got completely paralyzed and terrified. That was many months ago. Today I tried again. I took hold of her collar and pulled gently up with one hand, while with the other I gently tickled her with light squeezes just in front of her hip bones. You know dogs are ticklish there just like we are. This time she wasn't afraid, she just wasn't sure what I was doing. Her back legs started to give way so I stopped and praised her. She licked her lips and looked at me, a good sign, so I tried again. This time she sat all the way down. Yay, Jenny! Good girl! Tail went thump thump and she licked me. Now, I say she sat. I don't say she learned to sit. We have a long way to go before we get there, but this was a very big step! No fear, and willing cooperation.

Like here, I used to just take him in with me but the lady that works there is a big dog petter so I donāt even wanna mess with it. Just put him in a down stay while Iām busy inside and donāt have to worry about itWow thatās ridiculous. I've thought of that, abd we do pretty much avoid petting. But she goes to lots of "pet events" and such and her lifestyle just comes with lots of people wanting to pet. I am also bad at saying flat out no....Wow thatās ridiculous. Honestly I think willow might benefit the best from just not allowing people to pet her at all.
