When I get more situated I’m going to get a do not pet vest and be even more strict than I am now. I do understand what you mean sometimes it’s just hard to avoid it. If she had her vest on would that help much? Or are people just so used to petting her?I've thought of that, abd we do pretty much avoid petting. But she goes to lots of "pet events" and such and her lifestyle just comes with lots of people wanting to pet. I am also bad at saying flat out no....
I've also been working on training my dog to do DPT (he can do it, we're just working on doing it for an extended period of time) and I'm also training him to do behavior interruption for meDeep pressure therapy
that's what we've been doing, she also verbally corrects really well if I absolutely have to. If she starts to get up from a stay and I make my correction noise she immediately goes back to the stay. Obviously though she shouldn't even try to get up buy we are working on it. I think she mostly just assumes a lot, like when she gets up, she comes to me not wanders around. She really just thinks she knows what I want I guess
We will definitely start working this! She's used to dragging her 30 ft line so that's already down. I've always wanted to do her off leash I'm just so nervous that she's gonna get distracted, even if it's just a crazy one off, and get herself into a dangerous situation like into traffic or with another dog. Her recall is so perfect 70% of the time but then sometimes she just...won't...it's like she'll see something super appealing and that's it. But if nothing specific catches her eye she's fine. I wouldn't say she's easily distracted at all, but when something does get her it really gets her
Yes I get furious. I never really have Chase around a lot of people too closely but when I do I just watch them like a hawk and avoid itAnd on the other side, a lot of the petting she gets is not something I consented to...most of the time people just start petting her with no warning or ask which annoys me to wits end
Speaking of chunky he was getting really good at off leash and staying until my mom started yelling at me for it and I haven’t done it in a while. I’m sure he still remembers so I might try it again tonightChunky was great for 6 months, used his genius for evil for about 1.5-2 years then became amazing again

It helps sometimes. I've noticed it depends on the place I go...When I get more situated I’m going to get a do not pet vest and be even more strict than I am now. I do want to get a do not pet patch for her vest though
