I did some of the off leash work this morning. It went really well, she just sometimes lags behind a bit. We will do some more this evening, it was starting to get hot out

To correct lagging, do right turn, run. Don't give her any slack as you go, so she should get a horizontal leash snap correction for lagging. Am assuming your hands at your sides, your knee will drive the leash as you turn. Just run a few steps then resume normal pace. Continue regular leash work then throw in another quick right turn, run. In other words, keep it random. Don't do several in a row. Praise good position when you get it, just good verbal praise.

Oh, also, when you do an about-turn to the right, break into a trot immediately for a few steps, then slow down, stop and see if you get a nice tight Automatic Sit (where you don't ask for a Sit, she just sits without being verbally asked. Please don't do this, it's illegal to fake a service dog

It also ruins the reputation of real service dogs causing more public access issues and makes people question real service dogs more

I just want to rant
So today we went to tsc, I just needed to return an item and get one thing so I didn't vest her but that's besides the point. She was doing great, sitting by me, ignoring other people/dogs, and not sniffing things. The lady behind the counter asked if she could have a treat which I said yes since she's doing good, I wanted to see how she'd behave. She sat nicely for the treat and pets. Then a child asked to pet her, she sat perfect and calm for it. Keep in mind here, a young CHILD knew to ask first. So as I go shopping and Willow is sitting while I read ingredients on stuff this lady on the phone decided to stand by me, willow was a little interested so I told her leave it which she did. This lady just starts rubbing her head while talking on the phone no regard for me. I loudly Said "leave it!" And moved away a step. Willow did. The lady looked back at me like I was rude and then CONTINUED to put her hand out to pet her. I said it again and finally she left. She never said a word to me in the entire interaction willow handled it well though.

On another happy note, after that another person asked to pet and she sat for pets nicely again, and she waited in line very patiently even with people very close to her on all sides.

TL;DR=Willow did great, people have no respect

Honestly I was so close to saying "excuse me please stop petting my dog" but the lady looked mean and I didn't feel like having a whole confrontation today lol
