I have to get Brew under control. I want to be able to walk him with my outreach worker and/or other team members eventually but if we run into another dog… it’s going to be extremely embarrassing not to mention potentially dangerous. Same for squirrels, chippies, and bunny rabbits. Not to mention he stops quite a bit to sniff and/or mark. Which I allow usually because I personally believe the mental stimulation and enjoyment they get from it is well worth it and it’s his walk too. BUT!!!!!!!!!! He needs to at least learn HOW to heel so that he CAN when I need him to. LOL such as if I’m walking with people and don’t want to take 30-40 minutes to go down the street and back or do a (not very big) loop which would take me 10-20 minutes by myself LOL the loop takes me 20. So yeah. He learned how in puppy class but even then, he was never great at it because I didn’t really enforce it because of my reasoning above… :hide :lau but I am going to start working with him on learning how LOL

Well she's clearly smarter than me lol, I'll definitely start mixing it up. Once she's Heeling properly we may do some rally trials. I really want to get back into it. Her biggest issue before was her heeling poorly and causing leash tightness
She's anticipating the About-turn and working to end up back in Heel position after you complete the turn. Wish you could have someone film this for you as you About-face to the right and keep on walking, then you watch it back in slo-mo.

I can try to flim some stuff, I might even try posting some. I'd really like some feedback on myself too

Here’s the service dog laws. I think a big difference is therapy dogs and ESAs are NOT considered service dogs here in the USA. Seems like in Australia they are?

You won't see any dog in a hospital in Australia but it's fine in America, which is cool.

A service animal must be under the control of its handler. Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of tasks. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.

Yup! Though to be fair, I’ve never seen one in a hospital here LOL could just be coincidence though lol

And yup! Which I think is a cool rule

It’s like some of the trails here say dogs must be leashed OR UNDER OWNER’S CONTROL so voice command, e collar, etc. although they don’t specifically specify that part (the tools) LOL but yeah. Then there’s other towns, even right next to mine, that require all dogs to be on leash on all trails, even like secluded wooded ones. Whereas the other trails I mentioned, almost every single dog will be off leash LOL

Nuffin. All of it. I mean if I ran a business and someone walked in with a big old dog, say, no vest, no leash, what am I to think? Is the guy just a jerk walking a big old jerk dog into my establishment to intimidate me and my customers and start something? Or is this a legit service dog not wearing a vest. Now I have to try to graciously confront this guy and find out, and maybe get my throat ripped out for my efforts. Did I tell my husband I loved him this morning? Am I wearing clean underwear?
Did you have nightmares after seeing Cujo? ;)

If I ever see someone with a naked dog I'm so impressed! I mean, this is the ultimate training relationship a man and dog can have. The naked dog has total freedom to enjoy life to the full under the voice and signal of the handler. Seeing a vested unruly, nervous dog would have me more worried given how freely (although not in Au$tralia haha) these vests are available.

I see a farmer and his two naked kelpies in the area occassionally and, wow, are those dogs impressively trained with a simple flick of the finger.
