Dog training thread

Tonight was a little frustrating. Our neighbors brought their goats over while they finish building their barn. I tried to take willow out to do training but with the new goats screaming it was way too much distraction right now. She wouldn't even take her favorite treats. Oh well. Tomorrow I'll probably take her out to a pet store again for some work around people and dogs.

It’s like some of the trails here say dogs must be leashed OR UNDER OWNER’S CONTROL so voice command, e collar, etc. although they don’t specifically specify that part (the tools) LOL but yeah. Then there’s other towns, even right next to mine, that require all dogs to be on leash on all trails, even like secluded wooded ones. Whereas the other trails I mentioned, almost every single dog will be off leash LOL

Seriously, I have been abused by more owners with leashed dogs that I care to recall, and I'm at a big distance away from them. I see them coming - they look like they have a marlen, not a dog, at the end of the line. I stop throwing ball and call my dogs to me because I'm scared the handler will lose control of his animal. I even called the police on one guy.

This is the most narrow the verge gets. I never use the walking path. ..Im throwing a ball.

I don't understand why a service dog handler wouldn't want to vest because it just causes less problems and questioning for them. But thats just personal opinion.

Maybe they aren't bothered by all the tags and boxes and dont even concider to their dog a sevice dog; hes just a pet out for a stroll with his owner.

Did you have nightmares after seeing Cujo?

If I ever see someone with a naked dog I'm so impressed! I mean, this is the ultimate training relationship a man and dog can have. The naked dog has total freedom to enjoy life to the full under the voice and signal of the handler. Seeing a vested unruly, nervous dog would have me more worried given how freely (although not in Au$tralia haha) these vests are available.

I see a farmer and his two naked kelpies in the area occassionally and, wow, are those dogs impressively trained with a simple flick of the finger.

Lol, I would never watch a show like Cujo!

I used to walk my Golden, Rigby, naked all the time. This is the guy that helped me teach my obedience classes for most of his life. He was the bomb.

There is a park here that is right next to a property with horses on it. There are MULTIPLE signs telling owners to keep dogs leashed, because it could be dangerous for the dogs and the horses. I haven't seen a single leashed dog...
