I put pumpkin and blueberries in it, without freezing, so he can try it out. He was very well behaved for it, lol, I think he could smell the pumpkin from outside so he was sitting very nicely, and I didn't even have to remind him to stay seated.
Awwwww

Went out and played fetch on the cable like I had hoped to. It went great! He didn't fail to bring it back even once, and he caught it right out of the air several times. He came over and flopped down next to me for some resting, so I'd squat next to him unless he tried to playfully engage with me, then I stood and turned my back until he settled. It worked pretty well. After about 5-10 minutes of resting with intermittent ball throwing (after the initial ball throwing), I gave him a treat and let him be. He seemed quite happy, and is now looking very expectantly at me through the window. 😂

Awwwww awesome!!!!

So, what I hope to do is play fetch at least thrice a week, if not more (I will try for daily, but I don't want to overdo it with my history of chronic fatigue - it's been awesome these last couple weeks of pregnancy, and I'm not sure of my current limits). Then, unless having him loose in the house sometime this week is a total disaster (I certainly don't expect it to go super smoothly at first, haha), then hopefully we can do it more often. That part just depends on hubby having time.

Oh wow, this is great news! So glad to hear this. After a session like this would be a good time to practice those sits, downs and stays. Then later, when you bring him in the house, play with him first, then settle him with foundation work before bringing him in the house.

As time goes by, cut the exercise sessions shorter and shorter. He will begin to control himself more quickly because he'll anticipate what comes next, the obedience work. Which, if you do it right, is even more fun!

Thanks for the advice! I'll bring more treats out next time so we can do some of those things while he's starting to want to rest.
I was thinking I'd probably try and play with him right before bringing him in (whatever day that happens), but also doing that foundation work sounds like a great way to settle him a bit and get him in a better mental space for house romping.

Today we worked on a couple things at home, no chance to go out again
First we worked on alerting me to/behavior distribution for my leg shaking. She's picking up on it nicely.
Second we did some heel work, I kept her on the 6 ft to work on lagging. She did ok, I think I need to add more praise and rewards and get higher value treats as I could see her shutting down a bit. The goats started screaming bloody murder so we didn't work too long. Had a nice recall at the end though.
Finally I wanted to work on some fun stuff so we did some sit pretty to downs. She's getting pretty good at those.

Hopefully I can finally take her out tomorrow 😭 I'll probably go buy some chicken breasts or livers to dehydrate for when we do heel work. She hasn't had that in awhile but loved it before.

And I completely forgot 🤦‍♀️ we did a couple reps of DPT on the bed(she's used to doing it on the floor so we are getting used to the bed) and crowd buffering. I try to always do a couple things she knows during each training session just to keep her engaged

She sounds awesome. You're blessed to have her!
