Dog with torn ACL

Ligaments will not heal together the knee will kind of remodel itself and maybe stabilize a little. The knee will never be 100%. esp if the meniscus is damaged. Just stay away from any strenuous activity as that joint will be very prone to arthritis. watch the other knee as the majority of dogs will injure the other one in the next year or 2. I had my 11 yr old dog done about 10 yrs ago(she passed away last year at 20 1/2 yrs) The vet I work with has had tplos done on her shorthair, both knees within a year or so of each other.

So far so good - we are on day 11 of Daisy being on bed rest and it really seems to be improving her leg. The vet was very impressed with the progress we have made so far. We have only had 2 incidents of her jumping - Once up on the couch at Thanksgiving and once she jumped over a box of christmas decorations. I, on the other hand, am not fairing as well as she is. I have been on the couch for the past 11 nights and my back is so out of whack that I can hardly walk. I talk to the vet today and he said we can let her on the bed for the night if she will walk up a step stairs to get up there and not jump up. Yes, I know this dog is terrible spoiled :) But, at least we get back into our bed tonight!!!
