Haven't you heard of the new Boneless Cat breed? You can flop them down anywhere you want. If I was going to have another cat I would get the Boneless Cat. That way you don't have to worry about them breaking your St. Francis statue AND you can keep the dog off the sofa!

Here is another pic of a Boneless Cat as well as the one CityGirlintheCountry provided us. As you can see they were developed in Japan and can be easily used as a deterent to keep a dog off the sofa by stretching them out and laying them down the length of the chosen piece of furniture.

Just live with it. Put a sheet over it and remove the sheet when you have guests. I think you said that the dog sleeps with you, so the couch should not be any big deal.

Get the poor dog a pillow, put the pillow on the couch for him, then just enjoy his company.....

If he sleeps with you why is the couch a big deal? The sheet thing is a good idea too.!
