Dogo Argentino - Oh what has my DH done? pic post 16

I used to work at a pet food store and one of my regular customers had a Dogo. VERY sweet dog, would let kids crawl all over him, and he wasn't even neutered. They are a large and powerful breed, and like any other dog, each individual is different in personality and genetic makeup, so early and consistent training and socializing will make a huge difference. Train 'em right and you'll have a good loyal dog.

They have a handful of small health problems though as I recall.. they sunburn real easy, and can develop food allergies/sensitivities...

A Dogo is my dream dog.

Make sure he's extremely well socialized, and give him lots and lots of exercise as he gets older.

Oh yeah, skin issues. They gotta stay clean, and they are REALLY prone to staph infections on their skin, and sebaceous gland problems, especially in their tails and whisker areas.

i wanted to see what everyone was talking about and OMGosh i googled a pictures of them and found one that showed one of these dogs and a mt. lion fighting. I'm scared of big dogs anyway. I would be mortified if I met one of these in person

He is soooooo adorable! I would love to have a Dogo but don't have the time to socialize it properly. They are amazing dogs (just like Pit Bulls)

My Step-daughter has one. They got it when it was 2 years old. It bonded well with her boys -- but, is very, VERY unpredictable with other people. When I visit, I ignore the dog, so I don't inavertently "challenge" her. It works for me.
I personally love big dogs, German Shepherds, Dobermans, etc. but, I'll never have a Dogo or pit bull (though I know several pit bulls that are wonderful). The thought of having those jaws biting me, scare me to death.

Well in order to socilise a puppy it's good to have the puppy held by 29 people in the first 20 days, that being said, it's seems like as long as you have time the puppy will grow to be a good pet great site http://www.dogo-argentino.org/ makes me want one now
