Dogs eating chicken "packages." Don't want to know the answer to this but I need to know.

Chickens eat the horse poop, dogs eat the chicken poop (and the cat poop), now if I could get the horses to eat someone's poop I could have a cycle!

This is why I seriously NEVER let a dog lick me. Anywhere. EVER.

Don't worry about it. I did when I first got the chickens. Came on here and asked for how to stop them. Nothing has stopped my GSD. She will just wait until I'm not there. I talked to the vet as well and they told me not to worry about it. The dogs get a fecal check every three months for kenneling and it's been clear each time.

Short of keeping your dogs on a leash and keeping a very close eye on them or totally and completely separating everyone there really isn't a way to stop them from doing it. You can train them to not do it (or at least not do it as much) when you're there watching, but I guarantee they will be all over it again as soon as you aren't there. If your dogs are on a monthly heartworm preventative that means they are also being dewormed every month with their heartworm pill (check the label, some heartworm preventatives prevent more varieties of intestinal worms than others) so chances are they won't actually catch anything they might manage to pick up in the chicken poop.

At least your dogs just seem to be eating the chicken poop. My poop eating dog will eat any kind of poop he finds. Except raccoon poop. That he rolls in

Yeah. My two dogs love the chicken poop. We don't let our chickens free range all day, so the amount of poop depends on how long we've let them peck around the yard. If I'm out cleaning the coop or my husband or I are out putting around the back yard we'll usually rake or collect any poop we see or (more often) I just step on it and scrub it into the ground as the dogs don't seem to like it when it's "dirty." Sorry I don't have any better words of wisdom on this one. We've kind of given up other than yelling at the dogs to stop eating it and leave it alone (which they 'll only do if you're out there watching). Yuck. But, oh well. Dogs will eat anything.

Most animals consume fecal matter in one form or another. As in drinking from ponds where cows take a dump. Most farmers run hogs behind their cattle to clean up undigested grain. Most people forget that animals are not humans. We won't feed our dogs some old piece of meat out of the refrigerator for fear of making them sick, knowing full well they will eat road kill that has been dead for days, if they get the chance.

Just lovely nature at work

Here are some good things to remember if you ever feel more disgusted than usual when you see you dogs tucking into their poo treats:

It will cut down on the amount of cleaning you have to do in the garden
Reduce you dogs food bill
Give you dogs a very fresh and natural diet
Stop the place smelling of chicken poo
Stop dogs getting bored

Seriously it will not harm your dogs at all. Just make sure the worm and de parasite you dogs and chickens regularly. Also you might find that your dogs actually loose interest somewhat in the poo after a few weeks as the novelty wears off.
