Domestic geese hanging out with wild ones. Update: RESCUE SUCCESS

They were hungry AND hadn't been there too long. I was talking to this guy, before Kitty got there, who was there when they were dumped off. Apparently the dumper said that the city told him to take them there (not true!) The guy told me that the dumper apparently kept the parents but didn't have room for the young ones that he'd raised. So, I'm guessing that this flock is pretty young as well.

Yeah, they look young. I don't know any town or city that would condone dumping domestic animals as it's illegal to do that pretty much anywhere.

I think it's a combo of both! We got them before they'd been "wild" too long, but they were pretty darn hungry to! Have gone through pretty much half of the feed I have in the tub for them, already!

I was able to sit down in there with them for a bit tonight. The one Gander came within of about 5 feet in front of me, with the rest of the flock behind. Just checking me out really, and making sure I wasn't going to try anything. It makes me think, it won't be that difficult for them to learn to trust. They just need to settle in a bit, so they can feel secure. To be able to trust that this is home now and they are here to stay, with no more upheavals. Plus, learning that I'm the one that re-fills the food and kiddie pond!

I get the feeling that they are pretty young myself. Don't know how to explain it, but when looking at their behavior, etc. They just don't seem fully mature yet, or right on the brink, maybe.

Hopefully, the person who dumped them won't try it again next year. Has he been seen back there since they were dropped off? I think if he comes back and asks about them, the volunteers should just tell them they're gone or they disappeared. Make him think a predator ate them all.

I just read this from start to page 8, what a great story!! I am so glad these geese now have a good home. We go to the city park to feed the ducks that are dumped there and a few weeks ago, someone dumped 4 geese.

Most people show up with bread, we take corn or layer pellets. What a happy ending for these geese.

Great video, Bless you again for what ya'll have done to get them into safety. Made me cry to think about how great it would be if all dumped animals could find such a wonderful place to live. Please keep us updated on them and again what a great Christmas a story.
