I literally don’t even know how to cope I just want to blame myself but I can’t. I don’t even want to go outside. I feel so much guilt.I am so sad to say that I lost one of my barred rock pullets to a skunk tonight. He got 8 of my chickens i’m so devastated. This is my first predator attack in the almost 2 years i’ve had chickens.
Thank you! I actually had to stop reading because you’re post is so sweet it make sure me want to cry I love my feathered friends so much and only want/have the best intentions for them. I try to feel some relief it was only 8 the flock had about 60 birds in it and no roosters I keep wondering if i had roosters in the flock if it wouldn’t have happened but roosters aren’t immortal so I try to stop thinking about it. Thank you so much for your kind words I can’t explain how better it makes me feelI feel so sorry that's awful!
Don't take it to hard on yourself! Everyone makes mistakes. And now you will know how to stop it happening next time. Right?
Well, good luck be with you! And we all feel your pain. Having lost many chickens I know how it is. And it takes a while to get over it.
After a predator attack, I usually spend more time with my flock trying to calm them down and having a greater appreciation.
But all in all, I can't imagine losing that many at once.
I actually have little had a tear in my eye right now.
So keep us updated! And lots and lots ofto you!
