Dominique Thread!

A few adult American Dominiques.

This guy (Dooby) was used to break first dog and also exhibited very good growth through his first 20 weeks.

Pullet below created when testing to see which hens would become broody in their second production season. Dog (Lucy) in background is a German Pointer serving as livestock guarding dog. She deals with predators very well but needs tuning with respect to waterfowl.

This guy (Voterboy) about 3/4's Voter strain so closest I have to pure as I acquired it. His grandfather that was not acquired as part of the original Voter group was though to have at least some Voter in him. Voterboy is very virile and fertile based on last years tests as a bullstag. He is 3 years old and getting his first shot at breeding pens.

This gal is pushing four years now and lays almost every day but she failed the broody test. The continuous lay shows in her wattles and leg coloration.

Your rooster is lovely!

Is this the picture you meant to post? I'm curious, what evidence of continuous lay are you identifying in this hen's picture?

Continuous as in eggs almost daily from January through present this year. Evidence for performance direct based on single hen per breeding hen. My hens get pale face and wattles late in season if laying hard. Also legs pale (not shown but inferred by comment).

You better be getting your cuckoo colored barred rocks ready for next spring!

Two roosters are shown although seperately. They would be much easier to distinguish if shown side by side as below. One is much lighter than other although both are lighter than they would be if they could get out of sun. These guys do not have access to shade until temperatures start to exceed 90 F. Lighting still not perfect but bird on left (Voterboy) is lighter. It is likely that when bred back to his daughters that white birds may be produced. They will not be truly white but a pearly color with extremely pale bars.

I know what "continuous" means, I was specifically asking what it is about that hen's profile picture that you think shows continuous lay. Inferred - you mean suggested? Making an idle comment claiming the existence of a trait means nothing. If the picture doesn't show other well known, well established visual evidence proving duration of lay, (for example, a pale beak) there is nothing to 'infer". For example, you might ignorantly "infer", or, more accurately in this case, "suggest" that I have cuckoo barred rocks, but that doesn't make it so. I'm sure you'll understand, but just because you go out of your way to write pseudo scientific garble, "because I said so" is simply not a good enough reason to 'infer' anything.

Our interactions need a reboot. The sourness repels and does little or nothing to forward interest of those concerned with American Dominiques. I suggest we both refrain from negativity and insults so thread can resume a more positive nature. I will not post if I perceive it as something being potentially negative or insulting.
