Go figure this one out. I put 12 eggs from my Dom hen, Dominica under one of my Game hens and the Game hen hatches all 12. A little over a week later Dominica went broody so I stuck 4 of her eggs plus 8 Game eggs under her. She hatched all 8 of the Game eggs but not a single one of hers. So funny!

Because hens that want to set eggs are rarely laying, and if they are, they're not doing alot of breeding. They're too busy brooding about how much they want to be a Mother. Dominica had laid a certain number if eggs and her internal clock said "set them". It doesn't matter that you've been taking them every day, it was time to hatch chicks. Apparently, that "alarm" went off about 4 eggs before you gave her a clutch to set.

That explains it.

Here is the new momma. Another hen abondon her eggs that I finished in the bator and hatched about the same time, So I gave the chicks to Dominica. She has 15 now.

What is direction of cost?

Katz, did you use a Dominique hen or rooster? If it was a Dominique male, all the chicks will be barred, but if it was a Dominique hen, only the males will be barred.
