Dominique Thread!

I have hatched several chicks from the same parents and the males have all been a light grey color and the females have all been almost black in color. The camera seems to be making the chicks all appear a lot lighter then they are in real life. Most of the chick are darker in color then they appear in the pictures. There are some that are obviously males and other that are obviously females, but some are hard to tell at this point.

Get ready to drool! My AG hen just hatched out 12 of the cutest little Doms on Earth.

How many eggs did she set to hatch 12 chicks? Were they from your farm? Or were they shipped eggs?? And yes, I'm drooling. I ordered 3 hatchery Dom chicks this spring, and they all ended up being roos. Very disappointing, but there's always next year!! Enjoy your success.

I know how you feel 2 out of 3 that I got became roos. I say became because they were sexed pullets.

I set 12 eggs. She hatched every single one. The eggs came from a pair of Doms that I got from Sam Brush that are from Melody Hobbs' line. Don't mean to make you drool more, I was just lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time and happen to live just a few hours drive from Mr. Brush.

Sorry to hear about the three roos you got. Maybe someone will want to trade a pullet for one.

Here is a pullet that I hatched earlier this year from this pair.

Beautiful birds! I was lucky enough to get 1 Dom pullet as my daughters bday gift out of 6 unknown chicks. Thought she was a sex link roo when we first got her. She's definitely a Dom now. Sweet as can be. Squats for my daughter and perches on my knee when I sit outside with them. She is second in command only to my game hen mix who whoops up on the 2 Roos. It's a blast watching them all grow.

I was watching a pair of hens shove each other around yesterday making some adjustments to the pecking order. No bloodshed, only some ruffled feathers and presumably a bruised ego, but they looked pretty fierce. (The Turkey moderator certainly thought so.)

Thank you for posting that video. I've never seen my hens go at it like that. If I had I would have probably permanently split them up, got rid of the aggressor, or worse condem them as possible roos. Now I can see how far to let them work it out between them before stepping in.
