Dominique Thread!

I got lucky and was able to get close to them. There are the originals and a screen shot of me zooming in.

Is it the one in the back that you are questioning? Are the front of it's shanks lighter than the others? The feathering looks girl. How old are they? Without a close up pic, I'm guessing girl, and she's just maturing faster than the others. She may be the first to lay.

However, in the first pic, the one by the water dish, is that one shown in the last pic? The water dish pic bird feathering looks to be boy.

I've been noticing that one of my dominiques is getting a reder and more developed comb and wattles versus the others. But there supposed to be all hens and there feathers appear the same. All of them hatched in April. Is it normal for a difference? I took some pictures and zoomed in on them so you might be able to see. I may try to catch then tonight and put them side by side

Its hard to tell. Could be a pullet maturing a little faster than the others. However, I had one that I thought was a pullet for a long time, because he was as dark as the pullets. He was very forward and friendly from the first day. I think the 'boys' are more assertive.
