Holy cow! Some of the nicest ones I've seen! The comb on that roo is amazing and the pullet in pic 3 is very nice - lovely tail! From the pics, it's hard to tell they are bantams. I want some!!!!

Thanks for the compliments! I will probably have eggs and chicks available this spring. I have 7 hens and 2 roos, so this spring I will probably make a breeding quince and then keep a trio as backups so to speak.

I am hoping to show him this year.... so I was wondering what you all think of him. Is there and faults or anything that he is lacking? I just was wanting to see if he had any shot. I have never shown or gone to one so I have nothing to go off of. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a copy of the Dominique standard? If not, it's here:

This is a great site as it also has lots of Dominique info and photos.

I'm just a beginner, but like I said that comb almost looks like it was taken out of the standard. He has nice tail carriage from what I can see in the pic - and the tail feathers have nice even barring throughout. Nice yellow beak and legs.

Also, his overall color is good, sometimes they tend to have a brownish tinge which is not good.

How old is he? I would say definitely enter him in a show - that will be a great place to have him evaluated.

Hopefully some of the Dom breeders will chime in with their take on him. I do believe he's one of the best overall Dominiques I've seen anywhere on the net - and I've looked! And that pullet is awesome as well. Would love to see a rear view of her tail spread.

Can't wait to hear what happens when you show!

He does look pretty close to one in the picture... Yea I am not exactly sure But he is like 7-8 months old. I wish I had writen down when I got him.

Super new to Dominiques, pictured below is my trio from Ward and Barb Halligan of Cornerstone Farm. I was told they were about 6 weeks, and all factors considered (shipping and such) I estimate they're about 27 weeks old.

They were ordered as show quality birds and am wondering about the quality, first and foremost, of the cockerel. His back looks really long and flat.. Is this a young bird thing?? Hows the coloring?? Patterning??

PLEASEEEE be civil.. I'm new. Be constructive, not snide or catty. Thanks!!

Snideness is all I know.

Back is a bit long, flat and straight but mine show same until into full adult feather. Angle from base of neck to tail will increase when testosterone picks up. It is hard for me to asses until birds a little more mature.

Comb of male does not terminate in slightly upturned point like I prefer.

No one is snide on this thread

Domini people are nice people besides it is all about personal perception. centrarchid's comment about the comb is his personal preference and he said so. We all have different ideas on style etc.

I've thought about getting birds from there. Do you know the history of their flock?

Those birds look younger than 27 weeks. Have the pullets started laying?

I've found that there is a chance that the back may shape up a bit - plus, it could be his pose as well. I agree about the comb. It looks really flat on his head, and a leader on the comb that curves upward is important, for show quality, especially. His overall color looks pretty even.

They all have nice yellow legs and beaks. The pullets look nice. Very little black on their legs. Would love to see a rear view of them to gauge their tail spread. A non pinched tail is hard to find in these birds. Would also like a close up of the cockerel's comb.

Note: I am not an expert
