Dominique Thread!

Aww that is so sweet!

I just bought myself a 'bator so I can get some Dominque hatching eggs! So tempted to now but we will have too much going on with work on house and moving into it, so it will be as soon as they start laying again late winter/early spring.  Can't wait!!

That is the most adorable picture I've seen in a while - both of them are cuties!

Thank you! Both of my kiddos are pretty obsessed with the chickens and the chickens tolerate so much from them, lol. Bless their little chicky hearts! I'm so glad we started with such a sweet breed.

I attempted to search for my question strictly within the Dominique thread. I only came up with 'KenK' (If I remember correctly) asking about what size 'bandette' are breeders using for the Dominique Chickens? I scrolled forward a couple of pages and never saw anyone reply to his post.

So does anyone that breeds Doms band their birds? specifically bandettes (numbered ID), if so, what size is appropriate?

Thanks

See link below. I can get away with 11 on both sexes although some coarser strains may require the 12's on cocks.

How precious! My Dom is by far the sweetest of my five pullets, and I got her by accident! If I had known how snuggly this breed is, I would have gotten more.

DOMS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST CHOICE TO HAVE AROUND KIDS! DOMS SEEM TO CRAVE HUMAN INTER-ACTION AND AS CHICKS WILL INSTANTLY BOND WITH THEIR HUMANS. SOME CHICK BREEDS WILL COWER IN A CORNER AND SOME WILL RUN UP TO SEE WHAT TREATS YOU HAVE, GET BORED, AND RUN OFF AGAIN. BUT NOT THE DOMS - THEY WILL STICK AROUND TO JUMP ON YOUR ARM, EXPLORE YOUR CLOTHING, YOUR HAIR, YOUR EYEGLASSES, AND THEN PLOP INTO YOUR PALM FOR A SHORT SNOOZE. AMAZING BREED AROUND CHILDREN!

How old do you think these girls are?? I got them off craigslist 7 weeks ago and the lady told me they were 4 months old back then. No eggs yet!!
