Here's a better shot of his comb. He's so curious about everything and is always on the move so it's difficult to get clear close ups but I caught him at the waterer. It's not as cavernous as the first image made it look.

Hahaha!
I too like smaller headgear. Maine winters have nothing on Alaska's but none of my rose or pea comb girls have ever experienced frostbite (the singles have) and I want to try to keep it that way with all my birds. Plus I just really love the rose. I love the small walnut/pea/rosecombs too!
I had a choice between two cockerels. I chose Ichabod because he's a little calmer than the other but also because both my hens have very small combs (smaller than I see on other girls). I wanted to get something in between. A friend of mine took the other cockerel who has a very small comb but with a very prominent point. We have agreed that I can use her boy as well. I would have kept them both if I were equipped to keep 2 roosters. The one with my friend stands much more erect. I can't tell if thats his natural stance or if he's just always on alert. Her girls aren't as warm to him as mine are to Ichabod. I had to chuckle when I read what you named your cockerel ~ we had a friendly pullet we named "Ilse" until we realized it was a cockerel and renamed him "Ichabod". Here is our sweet Breda cockerel "Ichabod" which we had to rehome with friends and he's so friendly they made him their indoor/outdoor family pet:
Ichabod's comb does have a hollow but it's not quite as deep as it looks in that second photo. The shadow accentuates it a a bit and I have noticed it is still developing. Hopefully some of that hollow will fill out. His wattles are a little lopsided but I'm noticing they too are evening out a bit. I will take sweetness in a Dominique first because all the perfection of a Dominique physique is null and void without the sweetness gene! I believe the name "Ichabod" carries the "sweetness" gene.![]()

I'm not familiar with Bredas but that's a handsome boy.
My children and I decided to name him after the 1820s character Ichabod Crane from Sleepy Hollow because his personality reminds us so much of the character right down to the way all the hens took to him and look after him. I have a thread of his story if you'd like to read it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1126404/integrating-a-cockerel-into-a-flock-of-mature-hens
I only have three Dominiques and though all three are new to me as of this summer, they're the friendliest of my flock and I have a VERY friendly group here.

Does anybody have a pic of a good quality Dom cockerel comb?
What do you mean by no flat blade?Different people prefer different types. Some like them more bumpy, or more smooth... What have you.
However, it must be symmetrical, no deep hollow, no flat blade.
