My two Dominique roosters are overall pretty much sweethearts. I love them!

Did you do anything special as they were growing up to encourage this?

I just spent time with them, and gave them their favorite treats. I made sure that I held them at least a couple of times a day.

If the sexes are anything like one another personality wise they just come freindly standard. I got Hobo at night she had been in a cardboard box all day before I got her. The next morning she acted like she had known me forever.

Yes. Very winter hardy. (Many below zero nights & even a few -40'F nights here.)

I am new to all of this chicken stuff? How is the rooster temperament? I think our new Dominique is a male. He is our only one. Silly question but can breeds cross breed? All of the other chicks we believe are female but different breeds.

Yes a roo will mate as often as he can.

With my orp roos (I don't have a male Dom) I bring them into the garage at night & carry them back out in the morning. This prevents them from waking the neighbors. They get used to being carried & learn not to fear us. They also learn that they are below us in the pecking order.

I do nothing with my roos, my chickens are pretty much just livestock.

Most of the Dominique roosters are naturally great.

How large do Dominique roosters become? Charlie is already the size of my standard sized hens, and he is only 15 weeks old.
