Dominique Thread!

Do you just sex by spots or do you use leg color as well?
Depends on the line... as to how much you have to use to sex them.

Beaks and feet are often darker on the females.

But this set of 5 were with a new male over some of my old females.

Just odd result (yeah, 5 is a horrible sample size.. but 3 old ladies at the end of the season... and that is all they gave me)

Just with my old male the sexual differentiation was more clear.

Well the spots were kind of iffy but it looks like the legs show fairly well if that holds true with these. Nice healthly looking chicks.
See, I am not even sure with the legs.

By legs, I would guess 2 and 4 are females, but maybe 1.

Beaks are crazy dark on 2 and 4... so I am pretty sure those are female.

What sexes would you guess?

Congrats on the hatch.

I'm going to "guess" 1, 2, & 4 are female.
1 has a nice compact head spot
2 has dark legs & beak
4 has the same dark legs & beak

3 has a crazy head spot & light legs, so I think boy

5 is inconclusive.

You'll have to let us know the results.

I actually used this young male because (among other things) I thought he would give me "easier at hatch sexing".

Kind of crazy that his chicks are what they are. I can't wait for the wing feathers to come in.
