Dominique Thread!

This is Virginia, 4 weeks old today. As soon as I open the brooder she wants to come out and visit. Tonight she didn't want to go back.

I just hatched some dominiques. I've been thinking about them for a year and finally got a coop big enough to get more chickens. I also hatched some javas and a cochin that came from a "java" egg. The dominiques are my favorite by far. They are so friendly and sweet.

Exciting, how many did you hatch? I think you are right. Every time my daughter came close to take the picture, Virginia would tell her to back off.

I ended up with 3. They were ebay eggs so I feel fortunate to have any. I think I have 2 pullets and a cockerel from the head spots and toes. I'll probably get more after I see how many java roosters I have to cull.

So my Dominique (I think) has the barred coloring and rose comb, but her feet/legs are much closer to white than yellow. Her beak is white/cream and black.. can Dominiques be whitish?

This little roo "Doodle" is very calm and easy to handle, as are the rest of our bunch. He was sitting in my husband's hand for a long while. This exercise was really to socialize my husband with the little chickens. Ours are 3 1/2 weeks old. 4 weeks on Tuesday.
