If you breed your Rhode Island Red over your Doms you will get sex link chicks. I have a Black Sex-Link that was give to me who's mother was a Dominique and it's father was a Rhode Island Red. That's one of the reasons I got interested in Doms.Ok thanks. I'll prolly jus get a RIR roo to put n thr wth them
Mine seem to go broody late in season not long before heavy molt starts. Most of mine also do not get readily broody until their second season as layers and some do not become reliably broody even after that. With some of my penned hens I can get them broody by cutting back their feed after 3 or 4 days of feed restriction. That simulates the normal weight loss they undergo when having to do all their own foraging.Nice looking Roo, Farmer John! he looks a lot like mine. I have 6- Dominique laying hens and a Roo....he's pretty..well they all are. I raised them from chicks. However not any of the hens are broody. Anybody know how to get incubated, Dominique chicks, that are now laying hens 19-months old; to get broody?
