That a great pose of the 3 Doms! I doubt you could ever repeat it. They look like steps or maybe the 3 steps to sleeping.

@RodNTN -- I hope Linus turns out ok too. It's so hard to re-home or cull a chicken you're attached to. I have 3 little month-and-a-half-old Dom pullets and one is so hyper and am working with her to calm her down - hope it works. They're all people-friendly since I've had visitors play with them and they have no fear of us. In fact, we have to be careful where we step because they weave in-and-out of our feet.

It's rare to see these Doms at rest so had to take this photo before they rushed me:

I really hope Linus turns out okay, I think he knows that I am let's say, 'Higher In The Pecking Order' than he is. And he seems to respect that.

Okay nobody told me these chickens are worse than hyperactive puppies. I can't step out the door before Hobo's on my shoulder. This morning she even drank my coffee while I was spaced out waking up. She's the first one I've ever had and I've been told they are freindly and chatty a wee bit clingy but I'm just floored. I love it though, she's like good morning lady, ohhh you brought coffee! Mind if I warm my chicken feet on your shoulder? So absolutely cool.

Doms are hyper-personality chicks but seem to calm down after POL. DH calls our 3 chicks the "Powerpuff Girls" because they never stop running around! They love to step onto our shoes, jump into our hands, or fly up to our arm and they're not quite 6 weeks old. These are a personality-plus breed if anyone is looking for a very friendly chicken breed. I would NEVER choose to place these sweet souls into a flock of heavies like RIRs, Marans, Orps, Delawares, Sexlinks, etc -- I mean, owners have put Doms in with assertive breeds but I choose not to simply because of the more calm non-combative nature of the Dom adults. It's amazing how fast our chicks grew from day-olds to one-month-olds in the blink of an eye!
Someone suspected I had two males but I'm pretty sure these are all girls. They're from Privett Hatchery from my local feed store and were guaranteed females. They're not all growing at the same rate. The littlest one is at the front of the photo looking at the camera -- she's my favorite because she's personable but not pushy. Wish I had a child in the household to play with and train these chicks -- the chicks are very eager to learn and explore new things and I simply don't have the extra time to spend w/ them.

Lol! @Sylvester017 I'm finding out out all about these beauties. Little Hobo is laying pretty faithfully every other day, still little tiny eggs. Sweet girl still moves the delaware too, that hen has been a terror since I got her so watching her on the other end makes me happy. She's the only delaware I've got the others are faverolles, ameraucana,and an Easter egger so before the Dominique came she ran the show. To be honest the delaware was supposed to be an Easter egger but when I got her I figured out really quickly she was a delaware with off standard legs.

@Chickassan Post a photo of your "Delaware" since a lot of EEs can have some weird colorations and some can actually lay a white egg too. The pea comb is usually a telltale sign of an EE. I've seen photos of pure white EEs that people thought were Leghorn or White Rock chicks at first. I love hearing stories of people who discover the positives of owning a Dom! For being a lone Dom your girl sounds like she's holding her own. Of course, being in a flock of EE's is great. EEs, Amer's, Faverolles, and Brahma, are some of the gentlest breeds to mix with Silkies, Breda, and Doms IMO.

@Chickassan Post a photo of your "Delaware" since a lot of EE's have strange colorations. Your Delie just might be an odd EE. Some EE's even lay white eggs!

That's so cute! Yes, your Doms will follow you all over the yard. They can be so curious. Just wait until they start problem-solving!

I'm also very happy to have discovered Doms. Most of our flock are orps, but DD really wanted a blk/white striped chicken. A friend had some BRs but they seemed "pecky" IMO, so I wanted something else. We bought some eggs from eBay & only one hatched. Bubbles was given a Sebright chick as a companion & we really enjoyed the antics of the two BFFs. Although they are no longer the duo they once were, both hens add a lot of personality to the flock. (Orps are still a fav, but all they want to do is cuddle) Bubbles loves to play & do tricks. She's one of our top hens too.
