Is that Bubbles on the Ivories?!!

It's a 4H project. Bubbles can hit the red target very easily because she remembered her previous training. Getting her to strike the red lighted keys only took 1-2 sessions. However, she has problems hitting the keys hard enough to make noise. DD's working with her on it. Some days Bubbles can play a few notes in a row & others her pecks are weak & she loses interest. I'll post the video when DD's project is completed.

DD tried other hens, but Bubbles is just smarter..... and more driven.

No doubt, Bubbles is exceptional -- thanks to your DD for bringing out Bubbles' talents! Driven -- that's a good word to use for Doms in general. They thrive on human interaction and need stimulation. I don't know where research came up with the conclusion that Doms are good in confinement. It takes the spark out of any chicken's life to keep it caged/penned but moreso for the incredibly active, clever, independent thinking of the Dominique breed. They know how to think their way out of situations where other breeds will stay stuck and not know how to figure things out. I've cycled through a few breeds in over 7 years and Doms and Leghorns are two incredibly smart breeds -- except that Doms have the added benefit of actually seeking out their human owners for interaction and dare-I-say to actually play with their humans. They tolerate the touch and handling of their humans and even seek out cuddle time. I could have treats in my hand but many is the time the Doms ignore tasty morsels to simply jump into my lap to look me in the face and chatter with me -- or take hugs -- yes! Hugs! From chicks on up these are an incredible all-round flock breed and I just love them! We also had an incredible year with the eggs our 3 Dom pullets gave us this year -- until we lost Opal to a heatstroke in our Satanic 115 degree (heat index was 122) heatwave! We're still in the 100's but somehow the balance of our little flock has acclimated to the stifling weather.

Very nice examples of the breed! Even at such a young age I like what I see, Centrachid Nice continuity in type and color. Even at such a young age I can see the quality and attention that was put into the breeding pens. Great job! Would like to see you at the DCOA National this year at the Ohio National in November!

I love the BLUE eyes on young pullets! It's a shame the blue becomes reddish-bay but Nature has its reasons for the color change!
