Dominique's or Barred Rock's?? Att: Speckled Hen

I looked up egg genetics but brown eggs seem to be pretty complex, it would be interesting to see the eggs of a marans Dom mix.
I can tell you that chicks from Dom/marans would look mostly like a Dominique and have a rose comb, unless one of the parent dom's is carrying a recessive gene (unlikely).

I did discover a few things about what actually causes eggs to be brown or green or blue.... you don't want to know

really?? It wouldn't matter to me just as long as the eggs are large and I prefer the brown eggs. I know they don't taste differently but in my head they do.

No, don't tell me how they get the different colors if it is that bad. Might make me switch chickens to all white layers.

Well, you would definatly get some color of brown from them, somewhere between brown and dark brown, I would imagine.

Jr lost his tail feathers when he was young before I could get "Lady" to realize they are MY chickens... not her dinner!!!!!!! I guess I have to wait for molting before he gets them back... is that correct???
