DONE RAINSING PIGS! Pig on the Run (Part 2)

WOW, Buster!! I'm glad the boys, the hand and the dog are all okay. I didn't know pigs were like that. It's great to have a dog like that, I bet DW will think differently about him.

DUDE!!! HOLY PIGCHIT!!!

(deep breath)
SO THANKFUL THE KIDS ARE OK

(starting to laugh)
I can see you punching the thing in the head

(Pig on the run song playing in head - Beatles melody)
Smart dog. She attacked the pig?? She knew it was a danger??

This is why we must all bring our sons up to stay away from pigs.

OMG!!! That hateful hunk of bacon!!!! Poor babies!! It's funny and terrifying at the same time. Luckily the only pig I've ever dealt with has been the kind under plastic wrap at foodlion. After this pig's runaway excursion last week and now this attack on your family, I too think you all should be pulling out your North Carolina barbeque recipes!!!! Glad you all are ok, huge hugs to you and yours and to the pig....may visions of ham hocks, pork roast, bacon and barbeque dance in your itty bitty brain.........

Thanks everyone! The boys are fine too. We told them they did a really smart thing by running into the house. We told them that any time they are outside and something like that happens to run into the house as fast as they can. My four year old is actually very safety minded- he always makes sure that everyone has seat belts or wears life jackets, etc.

We asked them what happened when the pig got out and they said that the pig was following my two year old shaking her head back and forth. That's when we heard my four year old run into the house and the dog started barking. They said that Tess went after the pig at about that time. Then the two year old made it in and when I got outside the dog was running from the pig and then turned and attacked her again. Then the pig and I played circus until I got it in the shed.

I can work around cows, horses, dogs- I know how all these animals act and move. I can't predict pigs. To me they are hard to work with because I don't know how to move them or move around them. They are very smart- as smart as dogs. And they are very expensive to feed at this point. So DW is calling this morning to move up the butcher date from the 25th to sometime this week.

Thanks again everyone for your concern. Everyone will be fine but this darn pig, but she's going where she was planned to go anyway.

OMG, Old Yeller, Uh, I mean BLue Heeler. What a story. I don't know if I could have restrained my self from killing that pig. Sooooo glad the children were protected by such a wonderful Dog. Glad your okay too. Bet it took a few min for your heart to stop beating very fast after that adrenalin Rush.

Sorry this happened. Pigs can be dangerous. Usually though they are just looking for something to eat. They have a feeding drive that is can be insatiable at times.

We just bought 2 more piglets. They are such friendly little pigs. One got out and my husband found it grazing with the goats. LOL

There were about three times when we were trying to get it in that the thought seriously crossed my mind and the only things that stopped me were 1) it started to calm down when it found a place to wallow in the flooded pasture. 2)The thought of having to butcher the thing out myself when I was so close to taking it to the butcher in the first place. In fact, I told DW twice that I was going to shoot it while we were getting it in.

I agree that this pig generally isn't mean, it was just really excited to be out, which made it uncontrollable. To get it in the other two times its' gotten out we've used the feed bag and called it. This time was much different because it wouldn't listen at all and when it would finally start to come towards you it was at full speed. I think it's just too big to have here anymore which is great because that coincides with the coming butcher date.
