Donkey or Mini Horse

I just love mini donkeys, We have two mini jacks. We got them many years ago. I think you might enjoy driving, beings you don't want to ride right away. My sister and her Bf bought me a cart for my birthday. We compleatly redid it, and I love to drive them around. I also have horses, and love to ride them too. Donkeys can be alittle stuborn at times, but I still love them so much. They are little clowns at times.

Here is a pick of the cart when we got it. It cost $75, we already had a harness it was about $90.

Everybody on BackYardHerds knows I want a driving horse--sooo cute!!!

NYboy, since you don't know a lot about horses, you SHOULD be aware that it took stallionhawk, or the trainer, hundreds of hours to make this little guy a safe driving animal. Horses need a job to do, or they will get into mischief. There are WAY too many unwanted, undisciplined horses out there, just like the overabundance of dogs and cats and rabbits. If you buy a mini, or a donkey, and just feed it and ignore it, without training it, you'll tire of it and will be selling yet ANOTHER untrained, and unwanted animal.
Small horses ARE great for driving, however. A horse is able to pull four times what he can carry.
I suggest you start with some lessons at a stable. Horse people are social, and chatty. You can find out from them everything that is involved, and see if it fits into your lifestyle.

Yes i will admit that it is hard work training an animal, but it is very rewarding. It did take awhile to train him to drive. I also trained my horse to ride myself also, but I have been around animals my whole life. Start out slow, do you reserch and i think spending time at a barn is a good idea, and know that every animal is different, when your ready to get an animal, spend time with it, to make sure you click and it is the one you want. I would recommend getting an already trained animal, because your probally not experienced enough to train one yourself. I wish you luck.
