dont eat my chickens or i will shoot you! (pic)

He was pretty brazen, i tried scaring him off but he juat wasnt scared of me i took him at maybe 12-15 yards. He just kept trying to go around me to get to the baby goats. Kinda scared me a little.
The bobcat i shot sat at less than 50 yards and looked at me long enough for me to run in and get my gun. it still hadnt moved when i got out. I think some of these animals get so use to humans that they dont see us as threats and just arent scared anymore.

a univerity study recorded over a period of 6 years that a single bobcat on average will kill 2 yearling white tail deer per year.. it was a neat study.. crazy how much they kill and eat!! waterfowl, turkeys, rabbits, mice and rats, deer, feral cats..etc

Any how many thousand fawns

We don't have bobcats in my area.

We are also overrun with deer, as now their only predator is a car...
LOL! the car is the main predator of white tail deer. And people think that hunting is wrong. they forget that every year Ford and Chevy kill more deer than Remington.

i caught a beautiful tom cat a couple months back and sold it whole for $100 to my wifes boss. she checked with MCGOUGHS Taxidermy because their the best around here. Their aalso who the Duck Commanders use. they wanted $800 to do the mount she wanted. she waanted the cat in a stalking posture with a squirrel up on a limb eating an acorn. Taxidermy pricing varies greatly depending on what you want. The cheapest taxidermist is not the best way to go. Bad mounts cant be fixed once their finished.. Ive seen sooooooo many bad ones.. The eyes and ears usually is what goes wrong.. the eyes have to be relaxed and the ears too. they should not be bug eyed or wide eyed. the ears should be relaxed looking and not straight up like a board or look stretched.. A good taxidermist is going to charge for his craftsmanship and if you find a good one keep going to him or her. Its almost as hard as finding someone who can cut your hair right and consistent every time. Not sure what part of texas your in. McGoughs taxidermy is in west monroe, louisiana. I like that picture of Si by the way. that guy is the real deal lol. He greets peo0le as they come in to church on sunday, a few weeks back my big brother and his family were at church and my nephew froze in Awe when he seen Si standing at the door. Si smiled down and asked if he was going to go inside, my nephews jaw dropped and he continued to stare speechless. si bent down and asked my nephew if he wouod like to touch his beard. My nephew nodded and replied Yes Sir, as he reached out for Si's beard, Si lunged at my nephews hand with his mouth while making a snarling sound LOL.. My nephew screamed in fear and ran right thru Si's legs and into the church.. Si looked at us and said,"Works every time" lol. The pastor hollered across the way,"Si stop scaring the little people" Off topic but a really funny story i figured id share.

I live in Oklahoma bobcats are a problem we've killed one in our 5 years here but seen more than that. Oddly we've been having an issue with feral house type cats I caught one in a live trap because I had spotted a black cat a few days prior. The cat the one I caught was gray so needless to say I will reset the trap

What kind of mount are you going to do with him? Any idea how much its going to run you?
I am going to do a wall mount with it stalking down a ledge. My neighbor does taxidermy work and charges $550.

this is what i am going for except on rocks. I like the blocky face and the beady eyes. I have seen a few that whose face is really narrow and pointed and i don't like it.

that would look really sharp on rocks, over fireplace. but that particular mount is a great example of how the face should NOT look.. compare that pic to some other mounted photos, and compare those to a live cat in the wild. the mount you have shown has a drawn in mouth and nose. its eyes dont look natural at all. the mouth is drawn to the center and lips are puckered a little too much. the ears are also under stretched.. Most taxidermists do a good job until they get to the face. I do a lot of the tanning for a local taxidermist and have seen all kinds of animals mounted from axis deer to giraffes. Ive seen lots of horrid looking mounts too, which is why a lot of taxidermist dont start working without a deposit.

I thought the face looked pretty good on this mount.

here are some that i really don't like

I think these mounts look like house cats caught in the headlights.

I want my cat to look almost lynx-ish in the face not like a house cat.

so what should i be communicating to my taxidermist? you seem to know a lot more than i do.

And i agree the cheaper is not the best usually. i could have got it done for 500 plus i think he gave me a discount because i am his next door neighbor.
